Cyma appoints Amanda Nicholls as Acting CEO

Amanda is a visionary leader with extensive experience in sales, business and go-to-market strategies. Having joined Cyma as the Head of Strategic Growth & Commercial just a few months ago she has already made a big impact on the Cyma team and clients alike. We are thrilled that Amanda has stepped into the Acting CEO role and know that Cyma is in capable hands.

We thought we would share a little more about what she is most excited about in her new role and what makes her tick!

It has been a whirlwind few weeks since joining the Cyma team, what excites you the most about this new role?

The people! Getting to know both the team and our clients has been the best part so far. I feel privileged to work with individuals who are insanely passionate about what they do and how it delivers value to our clients. It’s incredibly refreshing to be in a position to present our clients with solutions that are unbiased, and solely for the purpose of delivering them with the right outcomes. I’m excited at the opportunity to lead the team as we expand on our service offering and continue to build on the trusted relationships we have formed with our clients (and hopefully forge some new ones too!)…and most importantly, have some fun whilst we do it.

What do you think the biggest challenge will be?
Staying ahead of the curve in the right way to ensure we can cater for what our clients need now and what they will need in the future. Technology is never “finished” and the landscape and client requirements are ever-changing, so it’s important to get the balance right between quality delivery that caters for today’s requirements and where to over invest in where we will be needed to support tomorrow.

What motivates you?
I am a really competitive person, I love a challenge and I love winning. What motivates me is being the best at what I do and supporting others to be the best version of themselves. In this capacity it’s ensuring that Cyma gets the spotlight and recognition it deserves for being the best in the technology architecture business! It’s building on the team foundation that already exists here and enabling and empowering the team to develop new ideas that will take us to the next level. It’s knowing that at the end of the day, I’ve made a difference to Cyma and had an impact (preferably a positive one!) on the lives of the people I work with.

What is your secret talent?
I can eat an entire Sal’s pizza on my own and in one sitting (Is that a talent?)

What is one thing not many people know about you?
I once did a corporate kickboxing fight for charity. It was a 16-week intensive training programme that ended in a fight night. It was probably the coolest and scariest thing I have ever done in my life.

If there is one thing you could tell your younger self, what would it be?
Don’t be afraid to step out of someone else’s shadow, a shadow can only be cast over you if you let it. Also don’t sweat the small stuff - wrinkles are a thing when you get older!

Best piece of advice you were ever given?
Surround yourself with people who are better than you and never underestimate the importance of the words ‘please’ and ‘thank you’.
